Papago Land
The “Papago Land” must respond to this premise of one-way marginalization. Perhaps what we need is to actively become part of the “landscape” ourselves. By borrowing the form of local caves and fostering an equal experience between humans and animals, this becomes the key to the park’s design.
The project faces dual tasks: on one hand, it is a compact bird research center, encompassing a hospital, office spaces, breeding, exhibition and training areas, as well as an animal rescue station; on the other hand, it features various bird enclosures designed for leisurely walks, along with a future park area composed of a large bird net. For the park, creating an equal experience for both humans and animals is a challenge. To address this, we combined the habits of parrots with the cave-like landscape of Jinyun, along with popular design considerations, resulting in a strategy that flows in plan and expresses structural redundancy in section.
