Future Garden Station
Future Garden Station is a stop for the Nanjing International Horticultural Exposition tour train. It is surrounded by the China Cement factory area, which is used for equipment storage and processing. Most of these buildings were constructed in the 1970s, following the standard wood truss factory designs of that time. However, due to terrain and material constraints, some adjustments were made to adapt to the local conditions. Inspired by this, we explored the ambiguity between standardization and non-standardization. Structurally, we used double columns in the center and single columns on both sides to reduce the number of supports. The use of a double-layer membrane structure also lessened the dominance of the top structural units. Especially at night, when diffuse light passes through the bottom membrane and fills the entire platform, the efficacy of the structure is further emphasized, attaining a unique sense of weightlessness.
